N N Light's Series Starter GIVE AWAY. Win Solace and 34 other books

                    The Fae Warriors Trilogy
They make love as hard as the fight.

 Solace: Book 1
Solace Goodeve, one of Mother Nature’s favorite Fae Warriors, is assigned to Earth to help save the planet. Reptile invaders, disguising themselves as humans, are waging a takeover—and Mother is mad enough to eat asteroids. Solace is ready to prove herself as a warrior, but having a human for a partner is not in her battle plan, even if he is rugged, ripped, and ready for action..

Army Ranger, Tanner Jackson, has seen his share of black op missions; the last one taking its toll on both body and soul. Tanner isn’t looking for love, but after six-foot-tall and drop dead gorgeous, Solace shows him a new meaning to working undercover, he may consider the possibility.
When the Reps plan to sabotage NOAA, Tanner and Solace must learn to trust one another. But as they’re trying to save the world, Tanner and Solace might just lose their hearts—and that takes the most courage of all.

Follow all three sisters as they face down an enemy invasion of reptiles. Otherworldly creatures  who morph with ease from looking human, to your worst nightmare.

  Chapter one
  Present day Earth/Boulder, Colorado
Solace hesitated at the door to the warehouse. It was mid-morning, but the interior was dark as a cave. Slipping her hand inside her purse, she wrapped her fingers around the grip of her particle laser. It was fully charged, and after seeing this place, she was glad she’d brought it long.
It sure was an out-of-the-way setting for a client appointment. But the man’s claim about having invented an ecologically safe method of recycling mercury-filled light bulbs sounded legit. And with her cover story of being part owner of an environmental research agency, she was bound to get involved in these kinds of scenarios.
Stepping over the threshold, she sniffed the air—it smelled okay.
“Glad you could accommodate meeting me here, Miss Goodeve.”
She spun around in time to see a man materialize out of the shadows.
“Mr. White. It’s awfully dark in here, would you please turn on a light or two.”
He didn’t answer, but strode forward. For an instant she thought his eyes flashed red. It couldn’t be. There were a few Tuataras known to be in the area, but the odds of meeting one in a situation like this were astronomical.
Still concealed within her purse, she tightened her grip on the laser and clicked off the safety.     Reptilian or not, this guy was weird. Something fishy was going on here.
The man’s tongue flicked in and out, and short pointy teeth filled his ever-widening grin.
   Crap, he was a Rep.
As they circled one another, Mr. White’s outer image dematerialized, exposing his true form. She knew the Reptilian invaders had a serum capable of making them look human, but she hadn’t been informed they could change at will. It was hideous to watch.
He was taller now, his fingernails elongated, and his skin thickened and turned a sickly green as his face morphed into a lizard head his dinosaur ancestors would have been proud to call their own.      “After I kill you,” he said, “I’m going eat you. A little buff-fae if you will.”

How the hell had he known she was a Fae? And how had he found her? To ask would be pointless, to try reasoning with him an even bigger waste of time.
The Reps had only one master plan, take over the earth. Their mission—kill whoever got in their way. Her mission—kill them first.

Solace Book 1: Winner of Paranormal Romance Guild Reviewer's Choice Award.

In Book 2 you'll meet Bliss, and her braniac cowboy partner, Nate. Along with her combat animal Noodge.

So sweet, unless protecting the Fae Warriors

Book 3 follows Portence and Malachi, her half-fae half-sorcerer partner. They have a history. He left her on a trash planet to die. Now he says he can't live without her.

5 Stars for His Candy Christmas, A Redford Falls Novel by Darlene Fredette

One tiny moment of youthful folly, has grown into a looming mountain of complication.
Now Candy Cane, owner of the revered local chocolate shop, must put matters to right if she hopes for a future with her friend, Andrew. But seeing Jackson Frost, the boy she grew up with, and the man to whom she’d long ago given her heart, makes these good intentions difficult to say the least.
Jackson, a jet-setting, high-rolling, real estate mogul hasn’t bothered to return to quant little Redford Falls for many a year. Family issues, and being a workaholic, have kept him away. At least that’s what he tells himself. When the discovery of a document forces Jackson to admit a broken heart might be the true reason, a trip home is needed to remedy his situation.
The Christmas rush has Candy up to her ears baking cookies and sweets as she worries over impending financial problems, and pulling off a happy Christmas for the local children. I had to chuckle when Jackson was blackmailed into playing the reluctant Santa hero. Needless to say, Jackson’s quick trip turns into a few precious days of rediscovery, and a bit of soul searching for all involved. The hectic pace of the holidays gave a reason for the misunderstandings not being resolved more quickly, and provided depth to the characters and story.
Again, Darlene Fredette’s skilled voice moves the reader along at a good pace keeping one’s interest through to the end of this warmhearted Christmas story. From the pepperminty cover, to the satisfying ending, I enjoyed this book. I’m glad to see one of the important characters will have their own story in the next adventure in Redford Falls.

As a free trapper, mountain man Kade McCauley is wary of the Hudson Bay Company. Their form of vengeance against those who are not part of the company can be deadly. When he and his partner are attacked, he fights back, only to discover one of his shots struck an innocent. A woman who touches his soul, and he will do anything to keep her safe.
While searching for her Native American tribe, Blind Deer crosses paths with Kade—with near fatal results. Once she is patched up, she decides it is safer to travel with him than alone Their uneasy alliance turns to genuine caring, but Blind Deer's past gets in the way, and she must choose between love or old obligations.
But nothing in life is carved in stone except the mountains, and those formidable peaks have been known to change the course of a man's life—or a woman's.

Excerpt
“Dangnamit, woman. You’re the most stubborn
female I ever came across. In fact, you’re more
stubborn than any mule I ever ran into. And by the way,
it would be easier to promise you the moon and the
stars than to promise to stop loving you.”
“The moon and the stars are a gift no one can give
me. But you are the most caring man I have ever
known. Please do not ruin my high opinion of you.”
How could he argue with that request?

Berthoud Colorado Ice sculptures 2019

Amidst FREEZING temperatures, the annual carving of the ICE took place in Berthoud. Here are the wonderful entries and the larger than life statues in adjacent Fickel Park.

The details are hard to see on some of these intricate works of art. Apologies to any I missed, my poor camera got so cold, at one point it quit working.

Congratulations to all the entrants for their creativity and hard work. A fun (frozen) day, so happy I could share it with my sister.

   Excerpt:
Remaining at her back, and seeming to understand,
he rested his hands upon her shoulders.
“I’m not giving up on us, Blind Deer. I can wait.”
When she turned her head to glance back at him, he kissed her cheek, and then reaching for one of her hands, he drew her closer to the window. “The moon is so big tonight it reminds me of a Trapper’s Moon.”
Blind Deer squinted up at the sky, and although she would never know the patterns formed by the twinkling bits of light, her shortcoming did not stifle her curiosity for the world around her.
“What exactly is a Trapper’s Moon?” She was glad

they pursued a subject other than the history of her love life, or lack thereof. And she enjoyed hearing about anything to do with Saka’am, the moon.
“It comes in February, and it’s a formidable sight—big and bright, like a golden plum, ripe for the
picking. A body feels he might reach out and touch it if he could but climb a bit higher up into the heavens. So bright does it shine, if the rivers are thawed, a trapper can walk his lines all night long using the light it gives off to show him the way.”
Blind Deer watched Kade’s face as he spoke. His strong profile and earnest expression revealed his great love for the land and the wilderness. A  handsome and noble face, one she fancied she would have been content to grow old beside.

Free Holiday Cook Book 2019

A tasty present from the creative authors
 at the Wild Rose Press

Here is my pumpkin soup recipe.
Perfect for a cold winter's day or night.

Cousin Jeanne’s Pumpkin Soup
Ingredients:
2 1/4 cups pumpkin (okay to use entire can)
1 cup coconut milk (okay to use entire can)
1-2 tablespoons maple syrup. Start with 1.
1/4 tsp salt
1/4 tsp pepper
1/4 tsp cinnamon
1/4 tsp nutmeg
1/4 tsp smoke paprika
2 cups veggie stock (may not need all)
2 shallots (3 if small)
4 cloves garlic
1/2 red bell pepper

Directions:
Brown shallots and garlic in olive oil for 2-3 minutes.
Add rest of ingredients & bring to simmer.
Blend in regular blender or with immersion blender.
Return to stove and cook 5-10 minutes.

Great with focaccia bread, toasted cheese sandwiches.
Be creative. Top with dollop of sour cream, toasted
pumpkin seeds, lime zest, picante sauce.
Add your own twist: ginger, curry, etc.

I'm betting Kade and Blind Deer wish
they had this to eat
as they traveled the untamed frontier
on the way to rendezvous.

                     Both seek retribution,
                  neither is looking for love.

Ochessa is heartbroken when she finds her brother
fatally wounded. His dying words are about a childhood puzzle box, missing legal documents, and a drifter named Nicodemus Breedlove. Ochessa vows to find Will’s murderer—and the man Will described.
No stranger to trouble, Nic's only concerns are his
Stetson, his mule Sadie, and a long awaited chance at retribution. After gaining Ochessa’s trust, and taking the job she offers, life gets more complicated.
Back on the ranch in Colorado, Ochessa works as hard as any man. Then Nick tempts her into playing even harder as a woman—both are overwhelmed by their growing love for one another.
Weathering a stampede, a gully washer, and a pack of outlaws, they locate the killer. As Nic’s quest for justice, and Ochessa’s vendetta for Will play out, bullets fly...
Not everybody’s gonna make it out alive.

Excerpt:
“I’ve come for the job,” Nic said.
Ochessa hesitated only a moment. “I don’t need any more ranch hands.”
“Not a job, the job.” Nic retrieved the bounty poster from inside his shirt, leaned forward, and held it up in front of her face.
Of course. Naturally he would be offering a gun for hire, not a strong back for bending.
Re-folding the paper, he tucked it away in his back
pocket. Several similar fliers were poking out of his saddlebag. He must have collected all the ones she tacked up in town.
“It doesn’t say anything about expenses,” he continued.
“That’s because I don’t intend to pay any.”
“That should narrow down the applicants considerably.” His gaze settled on her lips. “Or are you planning to offer incentive of a more personal nature?”
“Listen, Breedlove. Don’t get your hopes up—or anything else. Whoever I hire can live and eat at the ranch for free. And they can stay at Will’s cabin if the search takes them back to Kansas.”
He seemed disappointed. She didn’t care, or at least she shouldn’t care. What this man thought held no consequence for her. Being a drifter, he would most likely ride out of her life as quickly and unexpectedly as he’d galloped into it.
“Well…” Nic urged the mule one step closer.
  “Well, what?”
“Do I get the job or not?”
