2013 was an exciting year for the Berthoud Historical Society, especially at
the McCarty Fickel house.
The spirit of the house is revered and kept alive by two very special people, John and Virginia. Their dedication is an inspiration to all.
Each month in 2013, we hosted the delightful Fannie Palmer Luncheon. Here are a few of our beautiful table settings, fashioned according to the month, as we celebrated each season offered by Mother Nature.
In February, Love was in the air,
and the luck of the Irish was with us in March.
Before we knew it, Spring had sprung.
A special full-out Victorian Tea was in order.
Resplendent with three types of delicate Tea Sandwiches, a delectable selection of cookies, and of course, scones with lemon curd.
Accompanied by Black tea,
the repast was served on our finest china.
The serving maids were
dressed beautifully for the occasion.

It was an especially exciting day for me as I was invited to have a book signing for my March 2013 release, VICTORIAN DREAM.
During the year, the lovely gift shop got spiffed up with new display features. Now it's easier to see all the great merchandise available for sale at the McCarty Fickel House.
Then came Summer,
and a special visit from the
Red Hat Ladies.
Of course we were part of the
Berthoud Historical Home Tours.
And the exciting tractor parade
ran right past our door.
The Fall season was glorious,
and our tables were full.
In September the Gala/Silent Auction
was a "roaring" success.
But before we knew it,
the magic of Christmas was upon us.
As a special treat this year, the McCarty Fickel House offered two nights of "Sugar Plums and Toys" featuring antique and collectible toys once belonging to the family who lived and played here. Refreshments included cookies and lemonade, with handmade wooden toys handed out to the children.
The Christmas Angels were on hand too......
"God bless us every one".
What a wonderful year.
